First 500 unit Jaecoo J7 arrive at dealers.

Since its launch last month, the Jaecoo J7 has garnered significant attention. Its starting price is slightly higher than the related Chery Tiggo 7 Pro but much lower than expected, which is why you might already see them on the road.

Jaecoo has quickly delivered the first 500 J7 SUVs to dealers, just three weeks after the launch, adhering to their planned schedule for the third quarter of the year. Although the launch was slightly delayed from the original plan, Jaecoo Malaysia has been preparing for this by building a strong network over the past seven months.

The first J7s being delivered are all-wheel-drive models, priced at RM148,800 on-the-road without insurance. The next batch, which will be delivered in September, will be the two-wheel-drive models, priced at RM138,800.

Jaecoo has had an excellent year, beginning with a successful preview that led to a very positive reaction at the official launch of the J7, says Leo Chen, Executive Vice President of Chery Corporate Malaysia. “We’re excited to deliver the first 500 J7 units and can’t wait for customers to experience Malaysia’s hottest premium off-road SUV,” he added.

The J7 is positioned as a more luxurious option compared to typical C-segment SUVs. It features a Land Rover-inspired design, a high-quality interior, and a large 14.8-inch infotainment screen. Both versions of the J7 use the same 1.6-liter turbocharged engine as the Tiggo 7 Pro, which delivers 197 PS and 290 Nm of torque through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Aside from the different drive options (with additional modes on the AWD model), the J7 comes with the same features as the Tiggo 7 Pro. These include automatic LED headlights, 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels, keyless entry with remote start, push-button ignition, power-adjustable seats with memory, heating and ventilation, a head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 50-watt Qi wireless charger, a panoramic glass sunroof, an eight-speaker Sony sound system, and a hands-free powered tailgate.

The J7 comes with a wide range of driver assistance features, such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and speed adjustments for curves, lane keeping assist, an intelligent evasion system, rear collision warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert with automatic braking, front departure alert, a warning for opening doors, auto high beams, and parking assist.

Emily Lek, Vice President of Jaecoo Malaysia, said, “We aim to keep delivering J7 orders smoothly in the coming months. We’re also excited to provide our customers with the Jaecoo ‘From Classic, Beyond Classic’ experience, which includes top-notch service from vehicle handovers to after-sales support.
