Chery Omoda 5 Achieves 5-Star Rating in ASEAN NCAP Safety Test.


The Chery Omoda 5 has received a top 5-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries). It scored a total of 88.64 points, making it the first Chery model tested under these standards.

In the latest ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 tests, the Omoda 5 earned:
 
  • 36.77 out of 40 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP)
  • 17.36 out of 20 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP)
  • 19.51 out of 20 points for Safety Assist (SA)
  • 15.00 out of 20 points for Motorcyclist Safety (MS)



The Omoda 5 is designed with a strong focus on safety. It comes with 6 airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, seatbelt reminders, and features to protect pedestrians. For driver assistance, it includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist.

When it first launched in Malaysia, the Chery Omoda 5 was not tested by ASEAN NCAP, but it did receive a 5-star safety rating from EURO NCAP in 2022. The recent 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating confirms that the Omoda 5 is a very safe vehicle.



The Chery Omoda 5 comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that delivers 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT transmission. The car’s dimensions are 4,400 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, and 1,588 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,630 mm.

In Malaysia, the Chery Omoda 5 is available in two versions: the C variant and the H variant. Prices range from RM108,800 to RM118,800. This price includes a 7-year manufacturer’s warranty and 5 years of free servicing.
